design of a new office for boston consulting group in vienna with extensive functional and technical specifications.
international becomes local – local becomes international: in terms of design, the vienna-based office is intended to be characterised by the history, atmosphere and attributes of the location and thereby to attain its uniqueness in an international context.
a functional pattern was developed on two levels while adhering to all spatial and technical specifications. in the process, the existing old building structure was substantially broken up. a particularly fragile and elegant glass partition wall system, designed specifically for the project, makes it possible to achieve the desired transparency – individual offices, open workspaces, meeting rooms, as well as various large-scale social areas flow visually into one another while remaining acoustically separated at the highest quality. thanks to their positioning and refined glass construction, some of the smaller, separated spaces/ boxes appear in character as museum display cases.
pastel is the new white – a soft range of different shades of pink, purple, blue, green and yellow replaces the classic white and, as the basis of the design, creates an unexpected and particularly pleasant “living” atmosphere in all rooms.
one of a kind – all wallpapers, carpets and curtain fabrics were produced exclusively for this project. patterns and prints designed by us represent a free interpretation of elements from different art periods that have strongly influenced viennese culture. in the first step, various details were arbitrarily taken from the historical context (architectural ornaments, porcelain decorations, etc.) and alienated. all this resulted in completely new, highly graphic patterns – digital art deco – which were consistently applied in a “mix and match” process in surprising combinations throughout all rooms.
made to measure – countless pieces of storage and service furniture were designed and custom-made for the project. some of them, in very clear functional forms, take over the room colours and recede entirely into the background, while the others captivate due to their precise and intricate details and refined materials (wood, exotic stones, brass, surface worktops with special printings).
colours, fabrics and materials of most of the design furniture used in the project were adapted and “tailor-made” by various manufacturers according to our specifications. the selected shapes and qualities of the furniture suggest a distinctly soft character in all office spaces and define a new modern future-oriented way of working.
the office is home – the design of this high-tech office for one of the most important global consulting companies breaks with all stereotypes. the design deals intensively with the changes in classic working models and the development of new progressive and flexible forms of workspace with open zones, characterised by a markedly homely atmosphere, which strongly support the most modern typology of team work.
a look into the future with a touch of history that wafts through the rooms in a slightly playful associative way.
