wizard of oz — modern fairy tale

nostalgic associations from black and white hollywood fairy tales, or also from jules verne´s utopic future visions influence the idea of creating a fantastic world, which is romantic and scary at the same time, playful and strict, soft and hard, and always surprising and exciting.

the consequential reduction of colours to a few precisely selected shades of grey suggests an unexpected seriousness in dealing with the issue – the playful and childish elements are interpreted in a new way, being far away from stereotypes and well-known compositional approaches.

the surreal flower pattern designed exclusively for the shop is spreading across the entire room, using different scales (small format on the wallpaper and supersize format on the carpet) and different brightness levels, thereby creating a fairy tale-like setting thanks to its camouflage effect.

classicistic yet alienated grey wall frames define the merchandise presentation areas. the use of copper for the design of all product holders has been implemented as an experiment. radiant metallic pink bars and grids have an exciting and particularly elegant effect on the matt, grey and neutral or, respectively, patterned background.

the centre of the room is dominated by the vertical pink cage pillars made from copper. thanks to their strong sculptural effect, illumination and backlighting, as well as their free positioning, they come across as unknown, mysterious objects, taking the beholder by surprise. these pillars at the same time serve as product holders and changing rooms respectively.

surreal objects, such as a plaster frieze of supersized mushrooms, lollipops and pears, as well as seating furniture in the shapes of bananas, strawberries, lemons and plums have been added to the composition point by point so as to support the fairy tale-like atmosphere.

a room in which children can be adults and adults can be children.
